There are a number of options that travelers can use to pay for their meals and other expenses while traveling including using cash, credit cards, traveler's checks, debit cards, and more.  It would be a major inconvenience to say the least though should a traveler's wallet or purse with all of these methods of payment inside it get stolen or become lost. 

Rental cars are often one of the more expensive items related to taking a vacation, aside from the hotel and airfare, and there are a number of different rates offered by many different companies.  Usually the most expensive way to rent a car is for the daily weekday rate.  Weekend rates are generally less expensive and should be taken advantage of when you're looking at a shorter stay. 

Sometimes the best price can be had by paying the weekly rate, even if you are not planning on being at your destination for the whole week.  Many times the discount for renting a car for a full week lowers the per day cost of that rental car below what it cost to rent it for an individual day to the point where money can be saved even when you return it after just four or five days of use.
